Journey to Headstand

Principles to headstand:

1) physics/angles/efficiency

2) shoulder strength/stability and mobility

3) bhandas/core support

4) protect the cervical spine (why headstand is kind of a misnomer but baby-forearm-stand-with-the-crown kissing-the-earth is too long a name.)

Ecstatic Dance

If you’ve ever danced in your house alone , if you’ve ever cut loose and danced like a fool at a concert or party, or if you are simply a human that can hear or feel music, then you’ll fit right in at dance. Please don’t be scared away by the name. To dance ecstatically means to move your body in present and inspired motion while embracing the full range of feelings that accompany your movement. For some it’s just about moving freely to music. For others it might be a chance to check in with their body and where they are at emotionally or mentally. For some it’s an altered state and a way to twirl with the physical and non physical. If you’re at all curious, please come by! This is a welcoming and inclusive space where we can safely explore movement. #ecstaticdance #bohoyogastudio

Growing Full Wheel

Urdva Danurasasana is an advanced backbend that requires front body & shoulder opening plus considerable strength in order to distribute the force of the form evenly through the spine. Once achieved however, this pose is the ultimate expression of freedom and thought to bring energy, vitality & liberate us from malaise. We’ll spend some time workshopping the mechanics of the form after warming up the body with a preparatory sequence designed to bring depth to the shape.

Share Your Birth Story

Yoga + Hot Tea+ Writing Your Birth Story in Community “This workshop is designed to guide new and seasoned mamas through a gentle and restorative yoga practice; then with warm blankets, tea, and good company, we will carve out time to write and share parts of our birth story.  Writing down your story will allow you to preserve some of the details from your birth you wish to cherish.  Sharing your birth story in compassionate place will allow you to heal from some of the difficult parts and integrate it into your being.  Bring photos, your favorite journal, and comfy clothes. No yoga experience required. New born babes are welcome.

🌟

Who needs to process their birth?

Everyone. Literally every person who has given birth needs to set aside some time to process the experience. Even if a birth seems to have gone smoothly to others in the room, the birther may still have experienced disappointment, guilt, shame, or trauma at some point during her pregnancy, birth, or postpartum experience.” Sunday February 17th

Twist into Xmas

‘Tis the season for immune support. Time to stoke the inner fire. Did you know that 70-80% of our immune system is in our gastrointestinal tract? Did you know that yoga can stimulate these areas of the body by applying certain physiological principals? In addition to boosting immunity & stimulating digestion and elimination, twists help to release the intervertebral muscles of the spine and open the intercostal muscles of the ribs- making it all the more easier to take deep & full breaths. This & so much more! Come learn all about these amazing forms and wring it all out!
