Last Sundays Restorative!

Last Sundays Restorative!

For Restorative yoga, the intention is to relax as far as possible into the postures, using as little physical effort as possible. The mind focuses on the breath in order to cultivate mindfulness and release tension from the body.

Restorative yoga classes tend to be relaxing and slow paced, with a whole sequence using as few as five or six postures which are held for long periods of time. Props are also used often in order to allow the body to be in the most comfortable, supported position possible. This may include bolsters, blankets, blocks and belts. Gentle music may be played, and the practice may be combined with guided meditation.

Restorative yoga stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, which slows the heart rate, regulates the blood pressure and relaxes the body. As such, Restorative yoga is considered particularly beneficial for those suffering from anxiety, insomnia or headaches, as well as other stress-related conditions.

Restorative yoga is believed to boost the immune system and accelerate the body's natural healing process.

Boho Yoga Turns 1! Party & Kirtan!

It's our birthday!

Wow! We can't believe it's been just over a year since we opened our doors at Boho Yoga! We are so humbled by all of the support and encouragement of our family, friends and community! Come celebrate our first (of hopefully many) incredible years in McMinnville!

This is a family friendly event. We will have some snacks, a raffle, and lots of socializing. We will be hosting a Kirtan with our friends from Near East Yoga in Portland from 6:30-7:30 ish, and end with a dance party and celebration!

What is Kirtan? We think of it as a super fun hippie yoga jam fest. There will be songbooks to sing from if you'd like to join and you are encouraged to bring an instrument if you'd like to join in the jam. You can see a video of a kirtan here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGm2UXRuQUM&feature=youtu.be

and read about Casey and Near East Yoga here:

http://neareastyoga.com/about/casey-palmer-bio/

To top it all off a "Farm to Truck" Food truck called THE FARMER'S LUCHBOX will be parked out front of the studio and we cannot wait to taste all the amazing food from these local foodies. Follow them on facebook and instagram @thefarmerslunchbox

We hope to see you there!

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to email us at info.bohoyoga@gmail.com

2 Hour Restorative with Resonant Tones

Restorative yoga is appropriate for all levels and provides an opportunity for complete and total relaxation. Students move into longer supported holds over bolsters and blankets and are offered a guided meditation and an opportunity to connect with the body’s innate healing wisdom. Poses are designed to encourage a sense of well-being,  contentment and joy. When paired with tonal frequencies the effects are compounded. Come learn the art of ‘not-doing’.

💚

What are solfeggio tones?

“Solfeggio frequencies make up the ancient 6-tone scale thought to have been used in sacred music, including the beautiful and well known Gregorian Chants. The chants and their special tones were believed to impart spiritual blessings when sung in harmony. Each Solfeggio tone is comprised of a frequency required to balance your energy and keep your body, mind and spirit in perfect harmony.

The main six Solfeggio frequencies are:396 Hz – Liberating Guilt and Fear417 Hz – Undoing Situations and Facilitating Change

528 Hz – Transformation and Miracles (DNA Repair)

639 Hz – Connecting/Relationships

741 Hz – Expression/Solutions

852 Hz – Returning to Spiritual Order”

This will be an amazing Sunday afternoon of rest & rejuvenation. Please pre-register to reserve your space. www.bohoyogastudio.com/events

A little about Natalie:

Natalie began practicing Yoga in her 20s when she was away at college and faced
with a life altering chronic disease; She was fortunate to be introduced to
meditation, yoga, and Eastern practices of healing arts as an alternative form of
medicine. This led her to Naropa University where she continued her love for
Contemplative Religions and mindfulness. Interweaving yoga and her career as a
family therapist, Natalie has had the opportunity to practice and teach Yoga in many
unique communities around the world. Whether she is teaching poses as a wilderness
guide for at-risk youth, in an OB/GYN clinic with pregnant mamas, or with her two
daughters in her own living room, Yoga has been woven into all facets of her life.
Natalie is passionate about building inner strength from the way we think about and
move in our bodies. She believes Yoga offers the opportunity to reduce stress, and
create healthier connections with ourselves, and our world around us. You will find
her Yoga classes weave in elements of humor, compassion, and stillness. Natalie
enjoys encouraging yet challenging her students to grow both in mind and body.

About Katie Cosgrove:

image1.JPG

An International Yoga teacher, Katie has been practicing since 2003 and teaching since 2009. After graduating from University of Hawai'i, she traveled to India to complete her 200-hour teaching certificate at a Satyananda Ashram in Nashik. Her first five years of teaching were spent mainly in Sydney Australia. During that time, she had the pleasure of studying under and working with some of Sydney’s best yoga teachers. After Sydney, Katie moved to San Francisco where she was blessed to be able to teach for a few years at some of the city’s exceptional studios. She also spent that time studying and working on her advanced teaching certificate with Jason Crandell.

Katie teaches a Vinyasa style of Yoga balanced with strength, softness and mindfulness. Her classes are challenging yet playful and light hearted while also focusing on keeping the body supported and safe. She believes that life is all about balance, on and off the mat. In her opinion, Yoga should act as a guide towards balance but without any strict rules around that experience. She teaches from the idea that this practice can be whatever you need it to be.

Join us for one of these workshops in October, We know you will love Katie as much as we do!
