200 Yoga Teacher Training
The Boho Yoga 200hr Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) in collaboration with yoga teacher trainer Kristi Strong, (Linfield College/Excell Fitness) begins Fall 2019 and extends 12 weekends, over the course of 6 months (October 2019 - March 2020)
Class will be held Friday evenings for 3 hours (6:30 pm - 9:30 pm) , Saturdays & Sundays for 7 hours (11 am - 6 pm ) each day. Saturdays will start with Gentle Yoga from 11 - 12:15.
As you can see, YTT is quite time intensive and a big commitment. Students are expected to attend all sessions and must coordinate with teachers for makeup sessions. We will announce our prospective dates for this training as soon as we are able. If you know you may have a weekend conflict, please contact us as soon as possible to discuss options.
If it works out for our students & the weather, we may also have an opportunity to hold a weekend retreat at a beautiful property in Banks, OR.
Boho Yoga’s Yoga Alliance Certified training will be co-taught by Lesley Anderson, Rose Schneider & Kristi Strong and will include the following modules:
Immersive Practice -
Committing to your own exploration and growth, journal entries, self-study ~svadyaya. Each weekend will have learning time interspersed with a bevy of physical practices to allow the work to be imprinted in your own body.
Yoga Pedagogy -
Teaching styles and methods, sequencing principles, elocution, articulation, and presence. Build confidence & learn the ethical principles of teaching yoga.
History of Yoga and Considerations of the modern practice -
Where did yoga come from? Where is it now? What is our role as teachers in where yoga is going?
Alignment Principles of Teaching yoga -
Learn how to teach postures safely with modifications in mind for those working with health or mobility challenges. 200 hr students will become familiar with possible contraindications of certain postures, as well as learning about the health benefits associated with specific forms.
Aspiring teachers will learn to effectively & confidently teach forward folds, twists, backbends, standing postures, sun salutations & restorative/yin postures.
This training will examine the most commonly used muscle groups & skeletal patterns in a hatha yoga practice as well as helping the inquisitive practitioner to become aquatinted with the various connective tissues & their roles in proper musculoskeletal functionality.
We are open to the evolution of this healing art & enjoy many of the updates yoga has received as it grows in popularity at this time in the west. Our current expressions of science, research & technology have done much to advance the system of yoga since its beginnings. We also believe that a responsible yoga practice is grounded in philosophical tradition & to this end we will explore a handful of philosophical texts including the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the Bhagavad Gita & BKS Iyengar’s Light on Life to help provide a context for this mind/body work.
Special Populations -
Special topics will include, prenatal & postpartum yoga, considerations for younger and older practitioners, common postural malalignments, yoga & mental health.
8 limbs -
In addition to a strong command of asana (posture- the 3rd limb of the 8 limbed practice) aspiring teachers will become acquainted with the other 7 limbs including ethical conduct towards oneself & the world, basic pranayama (breathwork), & meditation techniques.
Aspiring teachers and depth seeking practitioners will learn at least 4 mantras with proper pronunciation & gain the confidence to chant om with others.
The Business of Yoga -
200hr level students will learn about the business end of yoga- obtaining liability insurance, working as a personal contractor, how to begin teaching, as well as theories on marketing & promotion.
